Beyond the Horizon Association (BeHA)
Draufsicht also known as Beyond the Horizon Association (BeHA) is a non-profit organization with the aim of promoting global learning through youths from diverse backgrounds and consolidating diversity and efforts towards social change and community-based development. Through our work, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive and informed global community.
Draufsicht promotes global education by engaging youths, journalists, community leaders, and the community to promote global connections. It is committed to upholding the values of youth participation in social change, and local and international policies. To attain this, we are leveraging our local efforts to address critical social issues and capacity building.
Our organization stands tall in Cameroon when it comes to using creativity, especially documentary filmmaking and radio plays as a tool for social change. Draufsicht engages in projects with young adults, community journalists, community leaders, internally displaced persons (Anglophone crisis), physically challenged persons, children in early childhood, and people living in remote areas. These young adults from marginalized Anglophone communities gain skills in storytelling, cultural competencies, media digital technology, and community engagements. Our organization provides a safe space for reflection, empathy, and creativity where young people are able to think globally, act locally, and co-create.
We promote social cohesion, peace, and inclusion, especially in non-violent communication and human rights, void of hate speech, propaganda, and stereotypes, and help to strengthen journalistic structures and a healthy environment.
Since creation, we have used creativity especially filmmaking as our weapon of change; producing short documentary films on topics such as hygiene and sanitation, inequalities, waste management, food insecurity, consumerism, and more. We have also been engaged with journalists and the community in a project to counter hate speech and promote peace in Cameroon and its Anglophone regions in particular.
To address global challenges through grassroots solutions, promoting inclusive representation. We strive to empower community growth and catalyze meaningful social transformation.
To foster global learning through community-led and youth-led initiatives. By leveraging local efforts, we aim to address critical social issues and enhance capacity building.
