A WALK TO PEACE PROJECT
“A Walk to Peace” is a project which tackle narratives from different perspectives by peace advocates crusading for peace and change. Audio visual contents produce in five episodes of 3- 5minutes each. The video preview in an open screening with public discussion on different strategies that local communities can engage in sustainable peace. The execution of the project officially started on 27 th July and ended on 3 rd September with public screening and discussion. This project spearheaded by DefyhateNow Cameroon in partnership with UNESCO and Agency for Open Culture and Critical Transformation and funded by Federal Foreign Office. Draufsicht Bamenda as the implementing partner.
Objectives
1. Contribute in the peace process in Cameroon.
2. Establish a platform for constructive discussion.
PROJECT IMPACTS
1. Awareness. The participants who attended the open screening gained awareness about topics like hate speech, misinformation, fact checking, living together and peace. They became competence on how to deal with such narratives and contribute in peace
process.
2. A platform for constructive discussion was established. People were able to openly
share ideas and possibilities towards attaining peace in Cameroon especially in North West Region.
3. The community was reminded on the necessity of peace.
4. Participants had the opportunity to reflect on statements they usually make that affects others and how to create and inclusive environment. Peace goes a long way with unity, positive thinking and collaboration for a common good.
5. To the team who worked on the video contents, it was a learning process for them and a wakeup call to them that they can produce short videos for peace and discover potential that could be exploited.
